Metal Forming
Engineering Research distributes and supports several program systems for
metal forming simulation. A short description of each product is given below.

FormingSuite
FormingSuite is used for sheet metal forming simulations using the inverse solution
method.
FormingSuite is developed by
Forming Technologies Inc. (FTI).
FormingSuite consists of a series of programs.
These are available as stand-alone products or as
CATIA-modules.
- BLANKNEST, a nesting
software for determining the optimal layout of blanks on a coil
- FASTBLANK, estimates blank
size for complex geometries in a few keystrokes
- FASTFORM, evaluates the
formability of deep drawing products
- FASTFORM Advanced,
advanced formability software including springback
- COSTOPTIMIZER, a
combination of formability, nesting, and cost reduction tools
- COSTOPTIMIZER
Advanced The complete package with all the features mentioned above
There is also a module available for SolidWorks called
BLANKWORKS, which compares to
FASTBLANK in functionality.
All of these programs are simple to use (Best in class), give fast
and accurate results and require a minimum of training.
eta/Dynaform
eta/Dynaform is a pre- & post processor program
for LS-DYNA especially for sheet metal forming
simulations.
eta/DYNAFORM is developed by ETA
Software, Inc.
eta/DYNAFORM is easy to use and fast to learn. It can evaluate
formability of a product with respect to cracking, wrinkling, thinning etc. It
contains numerous automated functions to solve many complex forming
problems.
LS-DYNA
LS-DYNA is developed by
Livermore Software Technology Corp (LSTC).
LS-DYNA has extensive
solution facilities and it is used on a daily basis in many
companies for simulation of metal forming processes. In addition to basic
sheet metal forming capabilities there are features for, e.g.
- multi-step forming operations
- springback prediction
- coupled structural and thermal analysis
- direct and inverse extrusion
- powder compaction and sintering
- hydroforming
- an extensive number of material models
- distributed simulation on a cluster of
computer
- integration with LS-OPT
LS-PrePost
LS-PrePost is
developed by Livermore Software Technology Corp (LSTC). It is an advanced
interactive pre- & postprocessor for LS-DYNA.
LS-PrePost has many features
for sheet metal forming simulations.
